Inspired by the mythology and history of the Spider-Man character, Spider-Man 2 features dual protagonists Peter Parker (Yuri Lowenthal) and Miles Morales (Nadji Jeter) as they protect New York City under their joint identities as Spider-Men. Throughout the game, the two come into conflict with Venom (Tony Todd) as well as Kraven the Hunter (Jim Pirri), who came to the city to hunt down the Lizard. Gameplay retains the third-person open-ended nature of its predecessors, and allows to shift between Peter and Miles during both story missions and free-roam. Both protagonists include expanded mechanics and gadgets for combat, stealth and traversal. As the host of the Symbiote, Peter also has access to the Symbiote suit, which grants him new combat and traversal abilities. Outside of story missions, players can roam New York City and complete side missions, with each Spider-Man having his own set of unique activities.
Peter interacted with Miles Morales and a Mary Jane from another universe who married with her Peter Parker, who suggested to not let his Mary Jane go in case she is anything like his Mary Jane. They were approached by Spider-Punk who brought them back to their base. In there, Superior Spider-Man and Spider-Nor-Man, an alternate version of Norman Osborn, had a discussion since he was questioning Otto’s leadership and criticizing the Spiders for putting their hopes on a Deus Ex Machina. Because of this, both he and Spiders-Man separated of the team and he declared he would think in a plan, but he was actually going to destroy the Web of Life and Destiny, stopping the travel between dimensions. They both have gone to recruit the Spider-Man of Earth-51778, but having to take down a Giant-Monster using the Sword Vigor.
It brings you closer to that Batman feeling of utterly dominating nameless thugs with your combat prowess. And the way both characters’ powers grow over the course of the story are very satisfying.
